Chris White's "I Take Requests"
In 2006, stand-up Chris White (Last Comic Standing, XM Radio, HBO Comedy Festival) started taking "requests" from friends, family and strangers -- any subject they wanted to hear jokes about, he would work up a routine, perform it and post it online. Sometimes it's easy (cars, hair), sometimes it's almost impossible (quadratic equations, Newton's third law) and once it was Phil Collins.
Since 2007, all of those great challenges have been rolled into one comedy show: "I Take Requests." But it's more than just stand-up -- the night also includes trivia, great comedy videos and a grand finale that gets everybody involved. It's eclectic, clever, goofy and original, and not what you'll normally see in a comedy club -- check it out and you'll see why the Boston Globe called Chris White a "hidden gem."

Baron Vaughn
Mottley's is proud to present Baron Vaughn - one of the funniest, most talented, energetic and honest comics you could ever hope to see. He started comedy here in Boston but is now the toast of New York, where he's been seen on Broadway, at clubs, and in commercials. And he was a featured comedian at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen in 2006. The last time he played Mottley's, people left gasping for breath. Don't be crazy; buy tickets now!
Dan Boulger, who also tore the Aspen festival to pieces, and Bethany Van Delft, one of our local favorites, support Baron on this show. Jamie Lee, Erin Judge, and Shaun Bedgood drop in for guest sets, too.
11/27/2008 to 11/27/2008
Ira Proctor
Ira Proctor is not long for this city - after tearing it up at the Montreal Comedy Festival and appearing on NESN's Comedy All-Stars in the past year, he's destined for big, big things, so you should come see him at Mottley's before it's too late!

The Walsh Brothers
Everybody's hometown favorites return from California just long enough to turn Mottley's inside out with their innovative frenetic comedy. They were the toast of the Aspen Comedy Festival, and we're proud to bring them to you (higher insurance premiums be damned). We're not entirely show which comics will show up to help them - but we do know Renata Tutko from the Great and Secret Show will be there. We expect a lot of surprise guests...you'll kick yourself if you miss this one!

Robbie Printz
If you've been to a comedy club in Boston in the last 10 years, you've seen Robbie Printz. One of the most-requested comics on the scene, he combines incredible charisma with the ability to cram more punchlines into a headlining set than just about anyone. He's honest, hilarious, and truly a master of the craft. He's joined by Mottley's mainstays Tom Dustin and Mike Whitman, easily the next two comics primed to break out of the local scene. It's rare you'll see a show this loaded with talent - don't miss it! And to make it even better, Vicky Kuperman drops in to represent the West Coast comedy scene on Friday night!

Frank Santorelli
Frank Santorelli is probably best known for his role on The Sopranos - he was Georgie, the bartender/punching bag at the Badda Bing - but we love him at Mottley's because he's one of the best comics the city of Boston has ever produced. He's been a part of the Boston scene since there was a Boston scene, and you'll be kicking yourself if you don't come see him in Mottley's intimate environment. Frank's a master of timing, and this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He also has something special planned, but he won't tell us what. Now THAT is comedy on the edge!
Tom Morello opens the show on Friday night, with Mottley's favorite Giulia Rozzi dropping in for a guest spot. Saturday night, Shaun Bedgood returns to open for Frank. Best of the old school and best of the new school indeed!
02/13/2009 to 02/14/2009
Barry Tattle's Valentine's Day Surprise
You've seen him on Wednesdays at Mottley's, and now the Bermudan Love Machine brings his smooth skills to Valentine's weekend. This show is going to be jazzy...real jazzy. Bring your lover or your lover's lover. Shaboom. On Friday night, Jon Lincoln, Erin Judge, and Dan Boulger help Barry work his sensual magic, with music by Adam Sankowski. On Saturday, Robbie Roadsteamer, Renata Tutko, and Tim McIntire do the honors, with Adam Sankowski and Paul Hansen of the Grownup Noise providing the songs of love.
Beats the hell out of cheap chocolates and a chick flick, doesn't it? Come do Valentine's in STYLE.

Mottley's is proud to present two of the best comics headlining comedy clubs today - Al Ducharme and Bernadette Pauley. They're the reigning king and queen of the New York comedy scene, but they're both New England natives, and we're psyched to get them back up here. Bernadtte's been seen on Comedy Central, Fox, VH-1 and TBS, and Al's been seen on Inside Edition and HGTV, where he hosted the first season of "Mission Organization," as well as in the films "Next Stop Wonderland" and "Original Sin." Massive star power on the Mottley's stage! Our very own Bethany Van Delft hosts the show Friday night; the hilarious Stephen Donovan hosts Saturday. Don't miss this one!

Patty Ross has done it all - appearances on NBC, HBO, ABC, Fox, Showtime and was nominated for an "American Comedy Award" for a guest-starring role in a sitcom (Roseanne). But first and foremost she is as good a standup comedian as you could hope to see. She tears the room to shreds every time she plays Mottley's, and we're happy to get her whenever we can. Patty's joined by Brian Moote and Lukas Seeley; a top notch show from beginning to end.

John's one of the sharpest, most versatile, and cleanest comics working today, and we're so glad we talked him out of playing his usual big rooms (South Shore Music Circus, Cape Cod Melody Tent, Somerville Theatre, &tc.) to come play our happy little club.
John's joined by EJ Murphy, a longtime Boston comic, who's making his Mottley's debut, and Dan Crohn, the innovative mind behind Mottley's smash hit Dandemonium show.

Back in 2002, Tina produced the very first Asian-American Comedy festival in Massachusetts. It has been four years since Tina was in Boston doing her own show and she is really looking forward to seeing everyone in Beantown.

06/05/2009 to 06/06/2009
Jim Colliton
Jim Colliton is one of the hardest-working, sharpest, and funniest comics to ever work the New England scene. If you have ever been embarrassed about the contents of your recycling bin or tried to kill a flying bat in your house, you will find Jim's comedy hilarious. If none of these things hits home, Jim has also stolen a school bus and everyone finds that story funny.
He's been seen on national television shows like Ed McMahon's Next Big Star, Comcast Comedy Spot Light and Comedy Central Laugh Riots. Jim can also be heard on XM Satellite Radio's Comedy Channel.
Jim's joined by Mike Whitman, one of our favorite comics and a guy destined to be too big for the likes of us pretty dang soon as well as Andrew Sleighter, a west coast transplant who always blows the doors off the club.

Corey Manning Presents: STAND UP! Comedy and Race - Should We Cross the Line?
"A Black, a Jew, a few Whites and a Dominican (with one white parent) walk into a comedy club..."
This event was so successful last time we did it, we invited Corey Manning to bring it back. Corey hosts diverse group of comedians performing some of their most honest material, and then stick around for a (probably heated) discussion after the show about what goes too far and why. What better way to conduct dialogue on social change and raise awareness of diverse cultures than with comedy and alcohol? Community Change, Inc. and coreymanning.com help sponsor this event.

Jim McCue
At six foot six, Jim McCue stands head and shoulders above the sea of 'stick to the script' club comedians. In addition to being one of the sharpest headliners in Boston, he also founded and produces the Boston Comedy Festival, which just wrapped up its tenth year! The rest of the year, Jim spends his time performing around the country and overseas, where he entertains our troops regularly.
Jim is joined by Becky Donohue, an incredible headliner in her own right, with appearances on Comedy Central, TLC, and A&E. Radio madman Stephen Donovan rounds out the show. This is going to be one hot night of comedy!

Myq Kaplan

He has appeared on the 2008 season of Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, was voted Best Local Comedian of Boston by the Boston Phoenix, won March Comedy Madness 2009 at Caroline’s, and lots of other bragging that you can read on the “bragging” page of his website.
On Friday night, Myq is joined by Baratunde Thurston, host of PopSci's Future Of on Discovery Science and an editor at The Onion. On Saturday, he's joined by Aparna Nancherla from Last Comic Standing 6 and the DC Comedy Fest. Mottley's favorite Josh Gondelman hosts both nights. And to top it all off, NYC sensation Sara Benincasa drops guest sets for us!
10/09/2009 to 10/10/2009
Dave Rattigan
Dave Rattigan returns to Mottley's. One of the first headliners we booked, Dave's quick, dry wit makes him a popular choice at theater shows, comedy clubs, fund raisers and corporate events all over New England (he's also the guy Heidi Watney kicks out of a cab in the Olympia Sports commercial). His Dave Rattigan: Thinks He’s Funny CD has received airplay on XM and Sirius Satellite Radio and English-speaking radio stations around the globe. Also a writer, he pens the "Perfect Man" column for Northshore Magazine, and has contributed humorous pieces to the Boston Globe and Christian Science Monitor.
Supporting Dave is a who's who of our very favorite comics: Steve Macone, Ken Reid, and Rick Canavan. All these guys are destined for bigger and better things, so catch them while you can!

Heck, you probably already know this because you saw him on Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central or in one of the comedy festivals he's dominated in the last few years (Aspen, Boston, Las Vegas, and so forth). Ryan's joined by some special, hand-picked guests: Mike Whitman, one of the best young comics in Boston; and Julie Barr, a longtime Boston vet and a headliner in her own right. WHAT. A. SHOW!!!

Mottley's is proud to present Ken Reid's one-man show Music to My Years.
This is Ken's third one man show ("Cusack Attack," "Very Special Episode"), and it's going to be remarkable. This is how Ken describes it: "Through stories, video clips and other media, the show details my lifelong strange relationship with music, including my love affair with Debbie Gibson, finding dead bodies in radio station lobbies, playing in a punk rock band, meeting George Clinton at a rest stop at 2:00 AM, and beating local music celebrities in basketball." We can't wait!
10/23/2009 to 10/24/2009
Artie Januario
Mottley's is proud to present Artie Januario - one of the Boston scene's most original, hardest-working comics. Artie's been steadily building his fast-paced, brutally honest act and has earned his spot as a hometown favorite. He currently makes his comedy home in a far-off, magical land called Saugus, but we convinced him to come into Boston and show you how comedy is done!
He's bringing Tim Dillon and Joe Espi with him, too, both of whom have rocked Mottley's hard in the past. And rumor has it a special guest of the Boston legend variety may stop by as well.

Joe List
Joe List is one of the real success stories in Boston comedy. He started out at an open mike in Dorchester, and now he's back in town headlining Mottley's! You've probably seen him on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham or in one of the national commercials he's done. But we know him because he's one of the best comics working today!
Joining Joe are Tom Dustin, host of the wildly successful Dark Blue show here at the club, Jason Kanter, who returns to tear it up, and Brent Sullivan, who's making his Mottley's debut.
11/13/2009 to 11/14/2009
Shane Mauss
Shane Mauss returns to Mottley's! Shane was the very first headliner to work the club (he even mentioned us on his Conan O'Brien spot that week), and we couldn't be happier to have him back. In addition to several Conan appearances, he's also been invited to the Aspen Comedy Festival, rocked the Boston Comedy Festival, appeared on Comedy Central, Playboy TV, and even the BBC. He's a gifted joke writer, a great performer, and one hell of a nice guy.
Shane is supported on this show by local favorites Rich Gustus, Doug Chagnon (Friday), Shawn Donovan (Saturday) and Josh Gondelman (Saturday).

Thanksgiving
Turkey headlines this show, with stuffing, mashed potatoes and candied yams supporting. Your drunk uncle drops in for a guest set with his patented brand of awkward, inappropriate humor.
Later, Tofurky headlines our late night alternative show (no refunds).
(But seriously - enjoy time with your family and/or friends, and then we'll see you on Saturday night when you need some laughs and alcohol to recover from your family and/or friends).

Jimmy Dunn
SATURDAY NIGHT ONLY!
In addition to being a world-class comedian, Jimmy Dunn is the star of a series of Olympia Sports commercials (he drives a cab going to Fenway Park)and is also the wiseguy "voice" of the NESN dating show Sox Appeal. The former host of NESN's "Fan Attic" did comedic features from a fan's perspective for the Boston Red Sox pre-game show during the historic 2004 season, and authored a popular book on his experiences called Funnyball.
But while he's well-known for sports humor, his selection of comedic topics is a whole lot broader. In addition to working clubs, corporate shows, and theater shows around New England, Dunn has appeared on Comedy Central, Jimmy Kimmel Live, CMT's Hit Parade, Inside This Old House, and the movie Stuck on You, where he shared a jail cell with Matt Damon.
Jimmy's joined by Jon Lincoln, co-host of the Mottley's Comedy Bailout, as well as other great guests!

It's smart! It's alternative. It's Smarternative! This show is a collection of the hottest rising stars in Boston (Steve Macone, Chris Fleming, Ahmed Bharoocha, Renata Tutko and Matt D.) who all have one thing in common: they're different. It's like all those people your friend told you to check out are doing a show together. Each performer has a unique performance style and worldview. Some of their jokes were scribbled on napkins at 3am, some were written at Oxford. Either way, it will be like nothing you've ever heard before. Topics to be discussed include the tried and true comedy club hits like: The personification of time, ducks, the metaphysics of feeling numb, the bloody meat guy at the grocery store, religion as jellybeans, and this really great old lady face that hurts to look at.
